Cookies and Local Storage

This page covers two distinct environments: the application (app.hoteo.app) and the public website (hoteo.be).

The application: no non-essential cookies

The Hoteo application uses no advertising, profiling or audience-measurement cookies — of any kind. It only uses technical local storage (your browser's localStorage), strictly necessary for its operation. In line with the position of the Belgian Data Protection Authority, this strictly necessary storage does not require consent; this page informs you about it in full transparency.

This storage is limited to three purposes: your session (staying signed in — cleared on sign-out), your display language, and your recent navigation (your recently viewed items, to get back to them quickly).

This information stays in your browser: it is not used for any advertising tracking and is not shared with any third party.

The public website: audience measurement subject to your consent

The public website hoteo.be uses Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd) to measure its audience: pages viewed, where visits come from, aggregated statistics. These measurement cookies are only set after your consent, given via the banner shown on your first visit — refusing is as easy as accepting, and your choice can be changed at any time via the "Cookies" link on the website.

As long as you have not consented (or if you refuse), no measurement cookie is set and no data is transmitted to Google for audience measurement. To learn more about how your data is processed, see the privacy policy.

Videos: nothing loads before you click

Some pages of the public website show demonstration videos hosted on YouTube (Google Ireland Ltd). As long as you do not click the play button, nothing is loaded: the page only shows an image drawn by the website itself, and no request is sent to YouTube or to Google.

If you start a video, the YouTube player then loads within the page, in "no-cookie" mode (youtube-nocookie.com): YouTube receives your IP address and your browser's technical information, and may place in that browser the storage required for playback. This loading results from your action alone: not clicking is enough to avoid it, and the rest of the page works normally.
